PARENTS & TOTS GROUP
Join us every Tuesday and Wednesday morning, from 10.00am until 11.30am, for our popular Netmums Favourite Parent & Toddler Group ‘Rovers Tots’ held in The Cappers Bar’s main function suite here at the Big Fellas Stadium.
The group provides the opportunity for parents, guardians and childminders to socialise with friends and make new ones, as well as providing a welcoming environment where children can develop and explore.
The groups are open to anyone with children aged 0-4 years old.
Attendance is priced at £1.50 for the first child and 50p for each child thereafter, which includes drinks and snacks. The group runs weekly activities, including regular parties and events, such as the Christmas Nativity and picnics.
TRY SPORT WITH WF YOUTH
The TRI SPORT initiative gives young people, aged between 11-19 years, the chance to have a go at different types of activities, including frisbee, football and touch rugby.
Sessions run in Featherstone, Wakefield and Castleford on Wednesday evenings - from 5.00pm until 8.00pm
Young people in Wakefield, Castleford, Featherstone and surrounding areas are invited to get involved by requesting for sports coaches and youth workers to visit their area.
The Featherstone Rovers Foundation successfully received a grant from BBC Children in Need to fund the Featherstone ImpRovers Learning Zone.
The project provides a learning programme that will improve and develop children's literacy, numeracy and IT skills by using the power of sport to engage and motivate reluctant or less confident learners.
The project runs an after school session a week for six weeks, for children in years five and six at school.
The children take a stadium tour, taste unusual fruits, create player profiles and are free to indulge in many more fun and exciting games and activities. They will also meet first-team players who will support them with the activities!
MEN'S WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
The ‘Give Us a Try: Manage Your Weight’ project is a men-only programme - FREE to all wishing to take part.
The programme focuses on increasing activity levels while teaching attendees about diet and healthy living for weight loss. It explains how to set goals and monitor your eating and physical activity, and to obtain assistance in making long-term changes to maintain losses.
The programme is aimed at men under 65 years of age, who currently do less than 30 minutes of exercise weekly - or have a body mass index of more than 25.
Running for 10 weekly sessions, with each class lasting for one hour and 30 minutes, we will perform measurements at the start and end of the project to measure your success, give you advice and support and provide physical activities.
