Ahead of the fifth year of the Summer Bash, which is due to take place this weekend. Featherstone Rovers chairman, Mark Campbell has issued a rallying cry to our supporters as we look to continue improving as a team heading into the showpiece event and the second half of the season.
The signing of Dane Chisholm has certainly coincided with an improvement in our attack alongside Jack Bussey, it has also given our supporters some fresh optimism especially after losing out on the top four last term and the subsequent drop in funding which this brought along with the doom and gloom, when we didn’t make the top four we had some difficult but easy decisions to make , which we did immediately.
This, along with having to replace the Commercial Manager, along with the damage he had done did take a huge chunk out of our CEO’s time, as we also had to realign our budgets in readiness for this season and putting a team together that was able to make the top five. Added to that, losing our coach to one of our rivals obviously had a big impact on our player recruitment/retention which we believe hasn’t turned out too bad! This squad is as strong as any I have had here at the club and the starting 17 are in my opinion the best we have had during my time here.
To continue our improvement and hopefully strengthen the squad for the second half of the season we need to build our match day revenues as this club has no right to have the team it has on the attendances/funding we get right now and every one of us can make a difference, if we drag a mate along, have a pint before and after the game, buy a golden gamble ticket (nine for a fiver) , join the lottery (ten further fans joined up when we signed Chisholm) push everything on social media and invite people to come along and have a taste of a match day we can only do this collectively and with your help.
We urge you to #BringAMate and we may well have a few new supporters come the end of the year and a place in the Grand Final!
P.S. Lets not forget we're all representing the club this weekend as we don’t need any idiots tarnishing the clubs image.
