Featherstone Rovers can confirm the signing of Brett Ferres from Leeds Rhinos.
The 33-year old will join the Rovers as the club looks to build on a successful 2019.
Ferres is a veteran of over 300 Super League appearances having made his debut for Bradford Bulls back in 2005.
Stops at Wakefield and Castleford followed his time at Bradford before he earned a spot in the 2013 England Rugby League World Cup squad while enjoying a highly successful spell at Huddersfield Giants.
On top of earning international honours, Ferres helped the Giants to the League Leaders’ Shield in 2013 and a place in the Super League Dream Team.
A move to the Rhinos in 2016 saw the experienced forward pick up his first Super League Grand Final victory of his career when Leeds defeated Castleford Tigers in the 2017 showpiece.
Brett Ferres is ready to get started with Featherstone: “I’m really excited to be linking up with the Rovers. Speaking with James Webster about where the club are heading got me really excited to join the club. I’ve watched the club for the last couple of seasons with the dual registration they have with Leeds I’ve enjoyed coming down to watch a lot of the younger lads that have gotten the chance to play for Featherstone.”
Football Manager, Steve Gill, is looking forward to seeing Ferres become a key part of James Webster’s 2020 side: “We’re pleased to bring Brett into the fold here at the Rovers, James Webster was keen to make the signing happen after losing Brad Day with an ACL that will keep him out until possibly July if not longer. It was important we got in a quality replacement for him, as we prepare for the 2020 season. Brett brings with him a huge amount of big game experience and leadership qualities which will be invaluable over the season.”
Brett will be proudly sponsored by CPM Contracts for the 2020 season. You can check CPM Contracts out on their website here.
