ROVERS GET CHISSY WITH IT

FEATHERSTONE ROVERS started their Easter weekend with a 42-12 win against York City Knights, at the LD Nutrition Stadium.

The sun was shining, as Dane Chisholm starred on his Rovers debut, claiming an 18 point-haul in front of a vocal home crowd.

Alex Sutcliffe and Josh Hardcastle bagged a brace each, while Conor Carey returned from injury, in an almost faultless performance from the hosts.

Sutcliffe opened the scores in the tenth minute, bursting through a gap in the Knights’ defence.

Five minutes later, Featherstone made a break down the right courtesy of John Davies, who had Josh Walters in support with a fantastic finish, to extended their lead.

A Dane Chisholm penalty kick then put the home side fourteen points in front, but York finally hit-back on the 34th minute through Tim Spears, who reached out to score beside the posts.

Featherstone remained dominant after the interval however, and Alex Sutcliffe claimed his second, by pouncing on a grubber-kick to touchdown.

It was a matter of minutes before John Davies crashed over from close-range, cutting through the visitor’s defence, to further assert the Rovers’ dominance.

Moments later, Josh Hardcastle forced his way over the line, and the game firmly out of York’s reach, as he went over yet again seven minutes later.

Dane Chisholm then sent the home fans into raptures, with a memorable debut-try under the sticks.

The Knights did go over for a consolation try through Sam Scott late on, but Featherstone had already secured a comfortable victory in the must-win match.

The Rovers are now focused on their short turnaround, as they look ahead to their Easter Monday encounter against high-flying Toronto Wolfpack, who they will welcome to The LD Nutrition Stadium, K.O. 3pm.
