SKIPPER Andrea Dobson and her Featherstone Rovers England colleagues are heading home from the 2017 Women’s World Cup, after exiting the competition at the semi-final stage.
Dobson captained the side, though England fell to a disappointing last-four defeat at the hands of New Zealand in Sydney.
She was joined on the tour by Rovers team-mates Kayleigh Bulman, Emma Slowe and Sarah Dunn.
England played a total of four fixtures, defeating Papua New Guinea 36-8, before losing out to Australia and the Cook Islands in other pool matches.
Despite the loss to the Cook Islands, Dobson and her fellow colleagues made it to the World Cup’s quarter-finals.
England trailed the Kiwi Ferns 14-4 at half-time but proved no match for their opponents after the break, suffering a 52-4 loss.
The Featherstone quartet will soon be back in the UK, with the start of pre-season training ahead of the start of the 2018 Women’s Super League.
